The Metropolitan Region of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc., is one of 12 regions within EGA. The Metropolitan Region has 16 chapters in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. When you join a chapter within the Metropolitan Region, you are also joining the Metropolitan Region and EGA.
Chapter membership provides the opportunity to meet other stitchers, attend programs, participate in many educational offerings, receive a chapter newsletter, and learn hands-on stitching at all levels in a wide variety of techniques. Chapters often organize local exhibits of members’ work.
The Metropolitan Region offers a newsletter, region-wide correspondence courses, region-wide education classes, and Special Interest groups. The region also sponsors a seminar every other year with nationally acclaimed teachers. For more information about the Metropolitan Region, email Region Director Maria Hall.
Membership in the Embroiderers’ Guild of America gives you access to its online resources, quarterly magazine, seminars and correspondence courses. The mission of EGA is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage. The Guild defines needle arts as any technique that uses a needle and a thread. Members’ interests range from the traditional – crewel, cross stitch and needlepoint – to the more unusual – beading, temari and stumpwork. Membership in EGA is open to anyone interested in embroidery from the beginner to the professional.
EGA is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for stitchers of any experience level, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or other background to develop their skills and express their creativity through the needle arts. EGA affirms the commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA).
